  • Introduction

IFRS 15: Revenue from Contracts with Customers introduces complexity and creates significant changes in the timing and measurement of revenue recognition in different industries. This standard moves away from a revenue recognition model that is based on an “earnings process” by the entity selling goods and services to one that is based on transfer of control of goods and services from the perspective of the customers.  As the standard requires entities to make more judgements and estimates, financial professionals need to thoroughly understand the application requirements to allow them to properly handle its impact on entities’ financial statements, business processes and internal controls over financial reporting.

The speaker will use cases and examples to illustrate the following concepts:

    • 5-step model : principles and examples sharing
    • Contract Modification
    • Contract Assets vs Contract liabilities
    • Combining vs unbundling contracts
